In 2009, Tiller Engineering successfully completed the Hydro Wind Tower Installation Spec Ramea project, which involved the erection and installation of three Northwind 100 wind turbines for the Ramea Wind, Hydrogen, Diesel Project. The project was undertaken to reduce the community's reliance on diesel fuel and incorporate renewable energy sources into their infrastructure. The Northwind 100 is a commercially manufactured product of Northern Power Systems of Barre, Vermont, and was chosen for its ability to efficiently generate electricity from wind power. The turbines had a hub height of 37 metres and a rotor diameter of 21 metres.
The installation specifications for the project were focused on the erection and installation of three WTGS as an entire structural system.
To complete the project, Tiller Engineering provided the mobilization and de-mobilization of an erection crane and associated equipment, all required cables, slings, belts, torque wrenches, and associated hardware to complete the erection and assembly of the turbines, an erection crane suitable for erecting a 37 metre Northwind 100 Wind Turbine Generator System (WTGS) according to the manufacturer's instructions and guidelines, riggers to assemble the Northwind 100 as a complete structural system, and signal people to direct traffic and ensure safe crane operations.
The successful completion of the Hydro Wind Tower Installation Spec Ramea project demonstrates Tiller Engineering's expertise in the installation of wind turbines and our commitment to providing reliable and sustainable sources of energy to communities around the world.
