Design, Inspection and Project Management of a New Satellite Communications Site

Scope of Work:
Design, manage, and inspect a new satellite communications site build. Tiller Engineering was responsible for the design of new foundations and reinforcements to support thirty-foot satellite dishes. In addition, Tiller Engineering acted as project manager and liaison and was responsible for the final inspection and all progress inspections.
Tiller Engineering was awarded a contract by Telesat to design, manage, and inspect a new satellite communications site in St. John`s, NL. Tiller Engineering's responsibilities included the design of new foundations and reinforcements, while acting as project manager and liaison throughout the entire build and installation. Tiller Engineering was also responsible for the final inspection as well as all progress inspections.
Tiller Engineering was responsible for all project drawings – which detailed a complete layout of the site and all of its components. This included detailed specs for the on-site building and receiver positions, as well as all other equipment positions. Also included were the concrete reinforcement drawings, the electrical ground and conduit drawings and the site’s future layout with areas designated for future use.
Tiller Engineering was responsible for the day-to-day site management of the build and protecting the best interests of Telesat throughout the project. Tiller Engineering coordinated all contractors as well as managed all the permits for the site. Tiller Engineering Inc. ensured that all aspects of the project were done in a safe, timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner. The project lasted almost one year.
Tiller Engineering completed all inspections for the project and maintained quality assurance throughout the construction. Tiller Engineering inspected all aspects of the project from the foundations up and provided a detailed final inspection and analysis, ensuring the site conformed to CSA S37-01 Standards.
