In 2013, Tiller Engineering Inc. was retained by Nalcor to act as on-site representative (OSR) for the installation of five new wind monitoring towers in Labrador. Jonny Fillier was responsible for ensuring that Hatch, the contractor for the project, was operating in compliance with industry standards and specifications. From October 1 to November 5, Jonny Fillier worked on-site at the five locations in L’anse Au Loup, Nain, Hopedale, Makkovik, and Cartwright, providing checks and reports to verify that the work was being conducted in a quality and safe manner.
Tiller Engineering Inc. provided engineering QA consulting services related to safety, installation procedures, and technical reviews for the proposed wind monitoring towers. Their expertise ensured that the project was completed according to industry standards and specifications.
To further support safety measures on site, Tiller Engineering Inc. also provided an on-site safety representative with aerial rescue capabilities from September 9th to the 27th for OSR services. This individual was responsible for overseeing safety procedures and providing assistance in the event of an emergency.
As of November 5, 2013, all wind monitoring sites had been completed, with the exception of fencing for L’anse Au Loup and Cartwright. Local contractors were scheduled to complete the fencing within the following weeks. The completion of these final tasks ensured that the wind monitoring towers were fully operational and in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
